The Culmination of a 5-Year Conceptual Journey

This release marks the final stages of a dedicated art series five years in the making. Representing a $7.5M valuation of blood, sweat, and tears—with absolutely no regrets—this project transforms 24/7 neighbourhood footage into a grand, multi-year socio-cultural archive. Filmed on location in remote Lincoln South, SA (over 700 km from Adelaide), the work embraces the isolation of its landscape, channeling the quiet magic of places like Marfa, Texas.

Conceptual Connections: The Gaze & The Void

Surveillance functions here as both documentation and live performance. By utilizing AI-enabled CCTV cameras, the project captures the exact mechanics of modern voyeurism, testing whether human instinct can remain divine when filtered through algorithmic bias. This work builds directly upon historical dialogues of observation:

• The AI Ghost & The Mona Lisa: Exploring the eternal, haunting relationship between the observer and the observed, updated through an automated lens.
  
  
• Duchamp’s Étant donnés: Mirroring the classic peephole voyeurism by framing backyard liminal spaces, empty hallways, and night-time precincts.
  
  
• Peter Tyndall & Nam June Paik: Continuing the dialogue of "someone looks at something," while channeling Paik’s love of surveillance and Warhol’s obsession with the self-documenting frame. The CCTV camera grants total creative freedom—allowing the performance to unfold authentically, "like dancing when no one is watching."
